There is little support for the introduction of regional stock exchanges, a report has revealed.
A recent report has revealed that there is little support for putting
private equity investments in regional UK stock exchanges.
According to the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), only 24 per cent of investors want to use regional stock exchanges.
The proposal to set up local exchanges was raised by the government earlier this year.
One comment from a financial services investor said that regional exchanges "are from another age of investments buying".
The CISI research demonstrated that
equity fund investments have developed over the years.
Another respondent said: "We have already merged national exchanges into transnational exchanges, why would we need regional exchanges?"
While popularity for regional stock systems remains low, companies are still enthusiastically ploughing money into business investments in the UK.
Earlier this week, the Office for National Statistics revealed there was a 1.9 per cent increase in investments from the second quarter of 2010, compared with the same period in 2009.
